Music, Media & Mindset

 

Music, Media & Mindset is a media literacy workshop that explores how music, media, marketing, social media, and the influences around us can shape the messages we receive, what we think, what we value, and what we see as normal.

Through music, media clips, guided analysis, discussion, and reflection, participants examine the messages they encounter every day and consider how those messages may influence their attitudes, choices, and perspectives.

 Rather than being told what to think or what to listen to, participants are encouraged to question what they see and hear, recognize what resonates with who they are, and decide for themselves what they want to carry forward as they find their own path.

How It Works

1. Critical Listening: Participants engage in guided listening and structured discussion to explore how music and media can influence what they think, value, and identify with—and how those influences can shape who they are and who they feel connected to.

2. Media Analysis: Through curated video and media clips paired with guided prompts, participants examine how music, media, marketing, and social media can influence what they see, hear, and consider popular or normal.

3. Creative Response: The workshop concludes with structured reflection and creative expression. Participants consider the many influences around them, reflect on what feels true to who they are, and write and share original lyrics or written responses that express their own voice and the ideas they want to carry forward.
