Music, Media & Mindset

The workshop explores how music and media—and the influences around us—can shape what we think, value, and see as normal. Through music, media clips, critical listening, guided discussion, and reflection, participants explore the messages and influences they encounter every day and consider how those influences may shape their attitudes, choices, and sense of identity. Rather than being told what to think or what to listen to, participants are encouraged to question what they see and hear, recognize what resonates with who they are, and decide for themselves what they want to carry forward as they find their own path.

How It Works

1. Critical Listening: Participants engage in guided listening and structured discussion to explore how music and media can influence what they think, value, and identify with—and how those influences can shape who they are and who they feel connected to.

2. Media Analysis: Through curated video and media clips paired with guided prompts, participants examine how music, media, marketing, and social media can influence what they see, hear, and consider popular or normal.

3. Creative Response: The workshop concludes with structured reflection and creative expression. Participants consider the many influences around them, reflect on what feels true to who they are, and write and share original lyrics or written responses that express their own voice and the ideas they want to carry forward.
