Arts-Integrated Learning

MeMA-Music offers schools standards-aligned residency programs for middle and high school students grounded in social justice that integrate art, music, social studies, technology, English Language Arts, civics, and social and emotional learning in middle and high school classrooms. MeMA’s sessions build students’ understanding of how musicians/artists have crafted messages about injustice and intolerance that encourage speaking one’s truths through music and poetry as a means of communication and mobilizing others to make a difference. Students’ final social justice-themed projects use film, multimedia, visual art, and creative writing—songs, rap, poetry, stories, skits, and live performances—to voice their beliefs and visions for the future.
